Quilted and Cut

I was going to moan about my lack of imagination with the quilting but looking at it now on the computer -  I quite enjoy the varying densities and directions of the quilting.  I'm not sure it adds a lot to the pieces, but perhaps the red image is strong enough.

It is weird but on my screen, the bottom scan makes the quilting look 'inverted', a strange optical illusion I think can be explained by the fact rotated the image on the computer after scanning, so the shadows are opposite to the top image.

Elizabeth asked if I did anything special with the raw edges on my applique.Nup :-)  I just make sure I sew closely around the edges and try to be zen about bits of thread springing free of the fabric every now and then.   I've noticed a lot of raw edge applique around in fashion over the last few years, so I think it is finding mainstream acceptance.

I am not the sort of person who finds joy in hand applique or miles of satin stitch, so this really is the only option... other than screen printing the image.  Something I will probably explore more in the future.  maybe.
