Inspiration Wire

I've been inspired by Mav of Port2port to put up some inspiration wires in my workroom. I've put up a combination of my textile stuff, pictures ripped from art magazines, and there is even a little painting by my sister Meg up there (on the top second from the left). I've changed a few things since this photo was taken. I don't know how often I'll change things around. But I like the idea of clearing it off completely every couple of months and starting again.

This may replace a scrapbook I started a while ago. I never look in there, so it doesn't really serve as inspiration. Doh! This is a page out of it... I wont show some of the really good ones as I can't credit the work I've stuck in there, though I'll probably scan a few in, print them out and use them on my wire at some stage.

I'm meant to be cleaning my work room today but I've been distracted by making a bag and dreaming about some printing I want to do... once I've cleaned up my workroom. A vicious cycle. LOL

I'm getting back into blog reading and internet surfing so I thought I'd start up my little link feature again:

Red Red Day is the blog of Mien. Printmaking, sculptures, painting, drawing. Lots of directions going on here and all of it is interesting :-) I love all those different mediums, she seems to have a similar way of working to me, especially the 'wanting to do everything' part.

November Moon is the blog of Cathy Cullis. Textiles, printing and soft sculpture. I'm expecially enjoying her stitched collages.

hi Claire, making things and dreaming are more important than cleaning (i think)! your wire inspiration is lovely, and inspiring me to make one, too. :). and thank you for the nice mention, especially nice since it has led me to your site. i am soo enjoying going through your blog and seeing your work! love what you wrote of the 7 random facts about you and how you work in different mediums, too. so much inspiration i am finding here...

hey Claire. no biggie about the name thing. :). definitely a big YAY! for geting cleaning done on top of everything else too. okay, can i just share with you something that's just too coinky not to share? well, at least in my mind it is. so the other day just before i discovered that you mentioned my blog on your site, my bf and i went to get some tetra neon for the fish tank. and guess what? among them, there was this really really tiny little fish, a baby one! you see where i am going with this? i mean what are the chances that i get a baby little fish by chance and then the next day got connected with a blog named little fish...?? pretty coinky, don't you think? i'm sucker for these things. have a good day! :).

A teensy, tiny, baby fish,

A teensy, tiny, baby fish, how cute and serindipidus (is that a word?) I love watching schools of fish swiming around, snorkling was a huge revelation for me!!

The name for this blog comes from a translation I heard of the name of my town, Traralgon, which apparently means River of Little Fishes in the local Aboriginal language Kurnai-Gunnai.

Though after I came up with the name, I found another translation which referred to storks (if I remember correctly).  doh!!

oh that is beautiful how you

oh that is beautiful how you got the name. i love that- river of little fishes. i don't know about storks though. ;). btw, my little baby fish is actually growing! we put it in its own separate tank just last night seeing that it managed to survive this long without being eaten by the bigger fishes. he's a smart little guy. his name is little guy, in case anyone wants to know. :).

Ohh, I did wonder if he

Ohh, I did wonder if he would become food for the bigger fishes, I'm glad he has his own tank to grow up in now!!!  Great name too... Little guy :-)
